What's in Season this Autumn

Well, I think we're officially in Autumn - not because the first of March has been and gone, but rather the weather definitely no longer screams summer!

This shoulder season is our favourite: it brings warm days, cool nights, beautiful colours and plentiful fruits and veggies. We're heading into the season with the greatest abundance - a cornucopia of summer crops intermingled with our very early cold-season treats.

With our greenhouse crops reaching their peak, there are SO many juicy, flavourful tomatoes are being picked and packed daily. Cucumbers are going strong, and our jalapeños, capsicums and eggplants are really taking off!

Combine those with our lush leafy greens like lettuce, mesclun mix, kale, cavolo nero and collard greens - perfect for any salad, be it simple or super complex.

The slightly cooler weather makes ideal growing conditions for our brassicas: broccoli, cauli, kohlrabi, radishes, pak choi and turnips - they're at their best flavours and textures at this time of year.

Meanwhile, over in the root crop department, we will be approaching the end of our bunched carrots and beetroot - as the weather cools down, the green tops of these crops tend to look somewhat less appealing.

While that might mean less carrot-top pesto in the not-too-distant future, it does tend to save on fridge space!

Our potato varieties - of which there are many - are growing well and tasting divine - have you sampled the different types? We'd love to know your favourite way of enjoying the various varieties!

In the coming months, strawberries and courgettes will be substituted out by pumpkin and artichokes - that's right! We're trialling growing those delightful tubers that have been known to cause all kinds of fuss!

Stay tuned for updates!
